November 2026 Updates - Life
It’s been a busy couple months for the Hill family, and things are starting to feel a little more real as we get closer to our move to Denver. We currently have a contingent offer on our house and are continuing to show it, praying everything works out. It’s been a strange mix of excitement, nervousness, and honestly sadness. We’ve spent so much time getting everything ready that sometimes we forget just how big of a change this is. This was the place, the house we imagined our family growing up in, and we’ve already made a lifetime of memories here. The thought of saying goodbye stings hard, but we’re excited about what lies ahead.
We’ve also started downsizing quite a bit, selling and giving away many of our belongings and officially beginning to pack. I’m also officially motorcycleless for the first time in nine years and man does it just feel wrong! Asher is doing incredibly and continues to keep us smiling. He’s even started leading a song on Wednesday nights, singing all by himself. I look at him and sometimes forget my gargantuan son is not the 5 year old I see, but he’s the 2 year old we are so beyond blessed to have and be proud of.
Ministry
On the ministry side of things, I’ve decided to no longer pursue ministry…(Just kidding), I’ve officially been interning at Highland since the beginning of October. It has been a great experience getting to see the many different aspects of ministry, from visiting members and planning events to studying, preparing Bible classes, learning what goes into writing and delivering sermons, etc. One thing that has really stood out to me is just how much happens behind the scenes. It takes so many hands, conversations, and hours of work to keep a congregation strong. I’ve especially appreciated seeing how intentional ministry should be, the little things, like taking time to learn names and remember details about people’s lives.
One thing the internship has already taught me is the importance of intentionally making time for God. Having dedicated time to study nearly every day has been a blessing. It helps me look back and see that between work, family, and all other responsibilities that come with life, it’s so easy to tell ourselves we will find time for Bible study when things slow down. The truth is, they rarely, if ever, do. If we need to schedule time in our day to spend in God’s Word, then do it! I’ve always been disappointed in myself for not having the will power to just be in God’s Word in my free time (when it comes), but as long as it’s for the right reasons, it’s better to schedule time to be in God's Word, then not be in it at all. There is nothing wrong with being intentional about making room for the most important things.
Looking Ahead
As January sneaks around the corner, we’re getting more excited about starting at Bear Valley, although there’s certainly some nervousness mixed in. I’m looking forward to being surrounded by brothers and sisters in Christ and having the opportunity to grow in my knowledge of Scripture and learn how to study it more effectively. I’ll admit, going back to school after about 8 years is a little intimidating. I wasn’t exactly the best student the first time around, more concerned with making my classmates laugh than learning how to measure the sides of a triangle (I still don’t get it).
Closing
In closing of my long winded update, one thing continues to stand out through all of this is how faithful our God is. When I was first laid off, I remember telling a friend in Church that It’s amazing how easy it is to trust God when you don’t have a choice. That sentiment has stuck with me. Things haven’t been stress free, and we certainly don’t have every detail figured out, but we’ve continued to see God provide in ways we couldn’t have planned.
As we continue preparing for this next chapter, we also want to be open about an important part of making it possible: support. Financial partners are a significant part of our ability to pursue this work, and we're still working toward the support we need. We trust that the Lord will provide, as He has continued to do, but we also recognize that part of trusting Him is being willing to ask and allowing others the opportunity to be involved in this work with us.
Partnering With / Supporting Our Family
If you've considered supporting our family, would you prayerfully consider partnering with us? And whether through financial support, prayer, or simply sharing our updates with others who may be interested, we are incredibly grateful. You can find more information about supporting our family here:
I’m also working on a youtube channel where I’ll be sharing Bible lessons, discussions, and occasional life updates. I’d love for you to follow along!
